Best Position for a Pregnant Woman during Massage
By: Therapeutix Wellness Center, your Ogden Massage Professionals.
When a pregnant woman comes to your spa for a massage, you have to position her in a way that she will be comfortable during the massage. Below is a simple guide on how you will position her so that you will both not get too tired when the massage is ongoing:
You should allow her to stay in the position she is most comfortable in as long as you will be able to carry on with the massage. Be careful with the oils you will be using for the massage as well as the parts that should or should not be touched. You do not wish to induce preterm labor in the massage room as this will make you lose, not just one client, but many more that the client could have directed to your spa.

When a pregnant woman comes to your spa for a massage, you have to position her in a way that she will be comfortable during the massage. Below is a simple guide on how you will position her so that you will both not get too tired when the massage is ongoing:
- Place two pillows on the massage table and ask your client to lie down on her side. Ensure that the armpit is between the two pillows. The pillow should also be able to provide support on her stomach and the back region.
- Put a pillow under the client’s head so that the neck will be properly supported and to ensure that her spine is well aligned.
- Ask her to straighten the bottom led and bend the leg on top, then place a pillow in between the legs.
- If the client is not comfortable with the lying position, you can ask her to get off the massage table.
- Place two pillows on the floor and ask her to kneel on them while her shoulders are supported by the massage table. Ensure that her belly is not under any form of pressure before you begin the massage.
You should allow her to stay in the position she is most comfortable in as long as you will be able to carry on with the massage.
