Deep tissue massages involve the use of forceful and deep strokes so that the deep muscles and connecting tissues can be reached. The main aim of this massage is to break any knots, enhance the position of muscles, and aid in getting rid of toxins. To prepare for such a massage:
- Get a qualified and experienced massage therapist who is licensed to carry out such deep massage procedures.
- Note down any health concern before you get to the spa which may make you uncomfortable during the massage session. This will ensure that you do not forget anything when the therapist asks about your health condition.
- Drink a lot of water before going for the massage to keep you hydrated throughout the session. This will also help in preventing side effects such as nausea or extreme fatigue.
- Take a shower preferably with warm water before going to the spa as this will help in loosening your muscles. The massage therapist will also find it easier to attend to you if you are clean and fresh.
- Dress in loose clothing that will be easier to remove when the time comes to undress. You will also need the loose clothes after the massage session as you may feel some tenderness or pain and putting on tight clothing in this condition will be really uncomfortable.
- Ensure that you arrive before the scheduled time so that you will have time to discuss any concerns with your therapist. It will also be convenient as you will be more relaxed when the time comes.
- If you have a preference for either a male or a female therapist, let the spa management know so that they will make arrangements in advance. If you fail to do this, it will be too late to change the allocated therapist in that day.
