Aromatherapy is a millenary tradition; Egyptians, Chinese, Romans, and even Greeks used this therapy in religious ceremonies. Nowadays, aromatherapy has been combined with Swedish deep tissue massage to create aromatherapy massage.
During an aromatherapy massage, different oils are applied to the body. Every oil has a quality to it. For example, neroli oil helps to relieve blood pressure and stress. Rosemary oil helps with the flexibility and motion, lavender is used to diminish anxiety, and eucalyptus is great for decongesting. There are over 400 different types of oils, but therapists only use 40. These oils are mixed with a carrier oil such as sweet almond, apricot kernel, or grapeseed oil.
