As much as it is relaxing to sit on a massage chair and get relief from all muscle tension, care should be taken as a pregnant woman’s body is quite sensitive. Below are safety procedures that you should look out for before you allow a pregnant woman to sit on a massage chair:
If the pregnant woman will not fit in the massage chair, you should look for an alternative form of massage that will work well for her without putting undue pressure on her belly. Forcing her to sit on a small massage chair will end up harming the unborn child which is against the main reason for having the massage.

As much as it is relaxing to sit on a massage chair and get relief from all muscle tension, care should be taken as a pregnant woman’s body is quite sensitive. Below are safety procedures that you should look out for before you allow a pregnant woman to sit on a massage chair:
- The expectant woman should consult with her gynecologist first who will give her the go-ahead if her condition is complicated. If she is allowed to go on with the massage, you can then make arrangements and book an appointment.
- Enquire if the pregnant woman has other health complications that may be contraindicated with the use of a massage chair.
- Ensure that you have a massage chair that is best suited for her condition; it should have a foot, neck or even a shoulder massager.
- The massage chair should not contain heating pads as they may not be safe for the unborn child. If all the massage chairs in your spa have heating pads, ensure that the feature is deactivated before a pregnant woman sits on the massage chair.
- The massage chair should be used in moderation for a pregnant woman.
- Keep the lines of communication open so that the pregnant woman will be able to inform you if she feels that something is not well.
