Being a massage therapist that your clients will always seek after will require you to have the characteristics listed below:
- Pleasant: You must be a person that your clients will feel safer and more comfortable with. Doing unpleasant thing in the presence of the client will make them feel uncomfortable around you and make the massage session very awkward.
- Attentive: When a client arrives, let your main focus be on him, act like he is all that matters for the duration he will be in your spa. The client will gain confidence in you and will be able to freely air any concern in the course of the massage session.
- Creative: Even when you do not have the right answers to the client, be creative enough and look for a convincing alternative that will make the client have more confidence in you. For instance, if your client asks the name of the massage technique that you are using and you do not know, just tell him it is a move you have just invented specifically for the session.
- Honest: Do not give false information to a client in an effort of making them agree to have a massage in a spa. Give honest answer as this will avoid raising false hope; if a client asks if the massage will aid in getting rid of a migraine and you are not sure it will, just be honest. Inform him that the massage will help in reducing the discomfort resulting from a migraine. This will ensure that the client will not take you as a liar if by the end of the session the migraine still persists.
