Not every part of the body can bear a massage as some contain numerous nerves that aid in blood supply and it could be risky to work on them. Such body parts include:
- Neck front: Trying to massage this area may result in chocking your client which is not the intention of the massage.
- Neck side: this part should also be avoided though it is not as risky as the front of the neck.
- Ear notch: this is located at the back of the jawbone, just below the ear. Avoid putting your finger in this notch.
- Eyeballs: Touching your client’s eyes is prohibited. You can work on the eyelids to help in getting rid of tension and sooth a migraine.
- Armpit: This too is sensitive as it has numerous nerves, lymph glands, as well as arteries.
- Funny bone: This is located in the inner section of the elbow. Touching this bone will generate massive discomfort.
- Abdomen: The stomach region is where the gallbladder, spleen and also liver are located.
- Lower back: the kidneys are located on either side of the spine and pressing too hard may cause harm to the kidney.
- Groin: This is the point where the legs are joined to the rest of the body. Vital blood vessels and nerves are found here and should therefore not be massaged.
- The area behind the knee: this part cannot bear much pressure and should therefore not be massaged.
