At Therapeutix Wellness Center
If you’ve heard about reflexology you know that is more than a foot massage. Reflexology aims to reach the whole body. There are certain points in our feet that affect different organs. Reflexology it’s based on the idea that by gently stretching and rubbing your feet in those points, your organs will relieve accumulated tension. These points are called “reflex points”. Additionally, reflexology might focus on the hands, an even the ears.
Every part of the feet focuses on a specific organ. For example, when pressure is applied on the heel, you’ll feel it on your pelvis. Or if the therapist touches the top of your big toe you’ll feel it in your head. The therapist is going to tell you that where you feel most discomfort is the organ that’s affecting you. When it’s done continuously, reflexology will ease the pain in that organ of your body. This treatment helps to clean the body of toxins and boosts the immune system. Furthermore, it promotes healing and balances energy. People are completely dressed during reflexology. The person receiving the reflexology needs to be seated down.
The person who’s applying the reflexology must be certified. Once again, this is not just a foot massage. The person must apply the right amount of pressure on the feet, if not it can cause secondary effects.
Additionally, it’s important that you talk with your practitioner before starting the session. You must comment it on what are your corporal problems. You must also talk to him or her if you have foot injuries. Practitioners will recommend you should drink water right after the treatment to eliminate all the toxins in your body. If you’re going to get the treatment you should eat at least 2 hours before it. Reflexology is not recommended for pregnant women.
