A massage spa can be set up either as a business on its own or a branch of an already existing salon or barbershop. Some of the basic supplies that you will require to get your massage spa running are:
- Massage table: A massage table should be the first item you should think of as it is where your customers will lie on as you massage them. If you plan to operate the spa alone, you may only require one massage table. If you intend on getting another set of hands to assist you, you will need a table for every employee.
- A set of flannel sheets and also pillows: Some of the sheets will be spread on the massage table while others will be used to cover the customer in the massage session. The colors should be neutral so that they do not disrupt the massage process.
- Massage oils: Ensure that the oils chosen will have a relaxing effect on the clients as you massage them. Such oils include cinnamon, sandalwood, jasmine, and rose, among others. The customer will be given an opportunity to choose the scent that is most appealing to them.
- Music: The choice of music should be cool so as not to interrupt the massage process. You can use a medium mp3 player that could be connected to a speaker.
- Candles: candles provide soft lighting that is not too bright. Ensure that the candles chosen are neutral both in color and scent.
- Towels: A towel will be used in wiping off any excess oils from a client once the massage session is over. It will also be essential for the client as he will wrap it around his body when he rises up from the massage table.
