What's a Microdermabrasion Facial?
A microdermabrasion facial is a treatment that "exfoliates and removes the superficial layer of dry, dead skin cells." The procedure allows new skin to breakthrough replacing the one that was treated it. Dermabrasion and microdermabrasion shouldn't be confused. During a dermabrasion procedure, a doctor will use a tool to remove the outer layer of your skin. Usually, dermabrasion is applied after using anesthesia. Unlike dermabrasion, microdermabrasion is less aggressive. In a microdermabrasion procedure, tiny crystals are going to be applied to the skin to remove the outer layer of it. A dermatologist won't use any anesthesia in microdermabrasion.
As explained before, microdermabrasion works as an exfoliating procedure and skin rejuvenating treatment. Your dermatologist will apply a non-abrasive and non-toxic to your skin. Additionally, the machine used during microdermabrasion has a crystal and diamond tip. Other devices vacuum the dead skin. The treatment might feel slightly uncomfortable but shouldn't hurt. Your skin is going to feel completely fine after 24 hours
Microdermabrasion benefits work in all type of skin color. Moreover, people with darker skin color are recommended to use microdermabrasion instead of dermabrasion. This treatment isn't effective on people who have deeper problems such as scars, stretch marks, deep acne, or wrinkles.
A microdermabrasion facial has many benefits. According to Uptown Laser, this treatment "felivers safe and even abrasion and can even be used on sensitive areas such as dark circles under the eyes"- It has "superior, longer lasting results that control and, in some cases, reversing the aging process, refines pores, softens coarse and granular skin, reduces uneven pigmentation." And, "smooths superficial scars and blemishes."
This procedure might have some side effects such as irritation because the crystals get inside the eyes. If you feel any discomfort during the treatment, ask your dermatologist to stop. Protect your skin using moisturizers and sunscreens. Avoid sun exposition after doing a microdermabrasion treatment.
